If you ever ask me, “Where in Europe looks like a real-life postcard?”
I’d answer without hesitation: Croatia. 🌞🌊

This is the kind of place where you arrive, take one step out of the airport, and immediately think:
“Wait… did I just walk into a movie set?”
(Technically, yes. Game of Thrones, I’m looking at you. 👀⚔️)

My trip through Croatia was everything a vacation should be—sunny, relaxed, ridiculously beautiful, and packed with delicious food & good wine.
So buckle up; I’m taking you with me on this little joy ride.

🚗 My Croatia Itinerary at a Glance

To keep things clean and easy, here’s the route I followed:

  1. Dubrovnik – The king of old towns
  2. Split – Half city, half Roman palace
  3. Hvar – The island of sunshine & good vibes
  4. Plitvice Lakes – Nature’s fantasy wallpaper
  5. Zagreb – A chill, artsy capital

Now let’s start with the most jaw-dropping spot.

🏰 Dubrovnik: The Real-Life King’s Landing

If you’re a Game of Thrones fan, congratulations—you already know this place.
King’s Landing = Dubrovnik.

The first moment I stepped inside the old city walls, I just froze.
“Oh damn… I’m literally inside a movie.” 🎬

🌅 Walking the City Walls

It took me about two hours to walk the full loop,
mostly because I stopped for photos every five minutes.

Terracotta rooftops glowing in the sun,
the Adriatic Sea sparkling on one side,
and a salty breeze gently smacking your face…
Perfection.

🥘 Food: A Paradise for Seafood Lovers

You MUST try:

  • Black cuttlefish risotto 🦑
  • Grilled octopus
  • Mediterranean white wine

Sitting on a terrace, sipping wine while the sun goes down…
This is exactly why we work so hard—so we can enjoy moments like this. 🍷🌄

🏛️ Split: A City Built Inside a Roman Palace

Split is wild.
You’re walking through the streets, minding your own business,
and suddenly you realize:

“Wait… I’m literally strolling inside a 1700-year-old Roman palace.” 😳

🏺 Diocletian’s Palace

Unlike typical “historic sights,”
this place is ALIVE.

It’s not a museum.
It’s a neighborhood inside ancient marble walls—
with cafés, shops, apartments, street musicians…
all blending into the old Roman stone structures.

It feels like someone mashed ancient Rome with modern Europe—and it works.

☕ Split’s Coffee Culture

People in Split take coffee seriously.
I sat by the harbor, drinking a cappuccino,
and I swear… nobody around me looked like they had anything urgent to do.
The vibe was pure relaxation. 😎

🏝️ Hvar: The Mediterranean’s Chill Island Paradise

You know you’ve arrived in Hvar when you see:
sunburned Europeans drinking cocktails by the water at 2 p.m. 😂🍹

But don’t get fooled—Hvar isn’t just parties.
It’s also:

🏖️ Crazy-Clear Water

I have never seen water this transparent.
While kayaking, I could see fish, stones, and even my own shadow underwater.
No filter needed. Ever.

🍷 Wine + Sunset = Magic

Hvar is famous for lavender, olive oil, and local white wine.
I watched the sunset from a hillside winery and genuinely believed life couldn’t get better than that.
Every angle looked like a travel commercial.

🌈 Plitvice Lakes: A Place Too Beautiful to Be Real

If you visit only one natural attraction in Croatia,
make it Plitvice Lakes.

This place looks like nature decided to show off:
turquoise lakes connected by cascading waterfalls,
wooden walkways floating over crystal-clear water… 💧✨

📸 Every 10 Meters Is a Desktop Wallpaper

This is the rare place where filters are completely useless
because the scenery is already unreal.

🚶‍♂️ Tips for Visiting

  • Choose the 4–6 hour loop if you can (the best views)
  • Bring snacks and water—you’ll want to stay all day
  • Arrive early to beat the crowds

I promise, it’s worth every step.

☕ Zagreb: Europe’s Most Underrated Chill Capital

My first reaction to Zagreb was:
“Wow… this place is way more relaxed than I expected.”

It’s not loud or chaotic like many capitals.
It feels more like a big artsy town where everyone loves coffee and design.

🎨 Art, Museums & Street Culture

  • Tons of museums
  • Colorful street murals
  • More cafés than people (probably)

It’s the kind of city where you accidentally spend hours sitting in a café doing nothing—
and it feels great.

🍽️ Let’s Talk Croatian Food (Because Oh My God)

Croatian food deserves a fan club.
Here’s what you must try:

🥘 Main Dishes

  • Black risotto
  • Seafood platters
  • Dalmatian beef stew

🍷 Local Wine

Croatian wine is so underrated it should be illegal.
Affordable, delicious, and surprisingly diverse—
honestly better than many Italian or French wines I’ve tried.

🍦 Gelato

Yes, Croatia has gelato.
And yes, it’s amazing. 🍨💕

💡 Practical Tips for Traveling Croatia

🧳 Best Time to Visit

  • May–October is ideal
  • July & August: hottest + most crowded
  • June & September: perfect weather, fewer tourists

💵 Budget

Cheaper than Western Europe,
but Dubrovnik can get pricey (worth it though).

🚗 Getting Around

  • Buses are cheap and reliable
  • Renting a car gives more freedom
  • Ferries connect most islands
